Mumbai, the financial capital of India, is a city that has a unique charm and character that can only be experienced by visiting it. As an outsider, I had the opportunity to explore the city for the first time, and I must say, it was a fascinating experience. Here are some of my observations on how I saw Mumbai:

First Impressions:

The first thing that struck me about Mumbai was the energy and the hustle-bustle of the city. The traffic was chaotic, and the streets were crowded with people, but there was an unmistakable sense of purpose in the air. The city seemed to be always on the move, with people rushing to their destinations, whether it be for work or play.

The Architecture:

As I explored the city, I was amazed by the diverse architecture that Mumbai had to offer. From the Gothic-inspired Victoria Terminus, now known as Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, to the art deco buildings of Marine Drive, the city’s architecture was a blend of old and new, reflecting its colonial past and modern aspirations.

The People:

One thing that stood out to me was the warmth and friendliness of the people of Mumbai. Despite the chaos and the crowds, people always seemed willing to help and offer directions. I was struck by the resilience and the can-do attitude of the locals, who seemed to take the challenges of city life in their stride.

The Food:

Ah, the food in Mumbai! It was a journey for the taste buds and the soul.  The food in Mumbai was a highlight of my trip. From street food to fine dining restaurants, the city offered a rich culinary experience. The vada pav, pav bhaji, and chaat were some of the delicious street foods that I tried, and they were all bursting with flavours and spices.

The Culture:

Mumbai is a city that is steeped in culture and tradition. From the colourful Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations to the dabbawalla system, which delivers home-cooked meals to office workers, the city has a unique way of life that is both fascinating and endearing.

Final Thoughts:

As an outsider, Mumbai became more than just a city; it became a transformative experience. It breathed life into me, instilling a sense of purpose and discipline. It taught me that amidst chaos, beauty thrives, and that within the melting pot of cultures, we find our common humanity.

Mumbai was a city that left a lasting impression on me. Its energy, architecture, people, food, and culture all combined to make it a truly unique experience. Mumbai is a city that must be experienced to be fully appreciated, and I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to explore it. Mumbai gave me a purpose and the discipline to accomplish things, it left a long-lasting impact on all aspects of my life.

Mumbai wasn’t just a destination; it was a journey of the heart and soul, one that left an indelible mark on all aspects of my life, forever reminding me of the beauty that can be found in the unfamiliar.
