Faith & hope evoke my curiosity. It feels like a fragile thread that is sometimes held on with desperate hands or a song of comfort. I used to think that believing in God was merely an illusion, a myth that people willingly surrendered to, hypnotised by the stories (mythologies, folk tales, fables) passed down from generations. God’s presence doesn’t arrive as a miracle; instead, it is an unexplainable feeling of calmness that wraps around your soul when you let yourself sink into it. I feel something inside me shift every time I confront myself with the stillness that faith brings with it. Faith is more than a proof, but a choice to stay is what I think of it to be.
Belief in God,
I never understood why people place so much trust in God. What exact power does that entity have over us? I find it funny that when I was younger, I declared my disbelief. Yet now, when I visit any place of worship, I feel a sense of calm.
How is it that life has changed so much that I now believe in something I couldn’t before? Why do scriptures evoke a feeling of connection to God? What could explain our profound awareness of heaven and hell? If we truly trusted in these concepts, we wouldn’t be revolting.
The God of any faith never intended for us to be divided; He wanted us to be cohesive and united. Yet, humanity continues to separate itself, harbouring hatred. I often reflect on what led us to this state.
We pray in hope, yet in darkness, we commit acts of violence, and in the light, we surrender to our sins. This is the irony of humanity.
Conclusion
We pray for peace, yet we continue to kill & wage wars in the name of God. It is a painful contradiction. Faith is meant to unite us despite the differences, yet it’s often used like a weapon. The creation of heaven and hell is a consequence of the choices that we made- love, cruelty, kindness or defiance. Faith is fragile and can be easily torn by the weight of human pride. Instead of allowing compassion to carry us forward, we let arrogance drive our actions instead. We forget that being human is not about dominance, but about vulnerability, tenderness, and courage to choose kindness. Faith was never meant to divide us; instead, help us feel deeply, softly & truly. That’s the meaning of belonging.
