You can love someone and still not have the best ending. You can want them but not have the kind of love story that you want. Modern love stories aren’t fairytales. Unfortunately there’s no Prince Charming to charm you in a midnight dance. And, there aren’t many Beasts ready to become softer for the sake of love. Love can feel home and leave a thousand cuts on your body because you give you all in it. And not every time you give yourself a chance in it does it make you feel that you can overcome your insecurities. Some make you believe that you’re never meant to be with anyone and you stay up every midnight wondering with watery eyes if there’ll be a chance for you to change your script.
You can see yourself through their eyes and you feel convinced there’s no one but them. The eyes chico, they never lie. You can yearn, crave, command everything through one look, one gaze. The world can stop and you’ll still not leave each other’s sight because you’ll be drowning in all the emotions that the eyes hold. They never leave or go around seeing other pairs because once you fall in love with a pair they never leave your mind and they are imprinted in your soul forever.
With tear-filled eyes, she said, “This is only going to end in pain for both of us.” He didn’t let her finish. Instead, he looked at her honestly and said, “Isn’t it already?” Neither of them could deny that it was. Navigating each other’s storms and denying that it was love was hurting both of them. She wanted to tell him that she loved him, and that she wasn’t trying to change him; she was helping him confront his darkness. He wanted to show her, through his actions, how much she meant to him. He wanted to demonstrate that this world was truly her place to shine if only she would stop doubting herself. Both of them longed to scream and confess their love, but neither did. They didn’t realise that their eyes were speaking, and that everyone could see it. The moral of the story is that no matter how much we try or how much we want, some stories don’t have a happy ending. For whatever reason, it’s either a cliffhanger or an ending with no future, just a goodbye.
Conclusion
When you go closer to someone’s darkness it can unnerve you. And sometimes in the name of protection, you can hurt your lover and yourself. Questions clog your mind, what if your lover sees you differently when they come to know your darkness. And it becomes exhausting for the lover to love someone that they never want to leave by themselves not as a favour nor as a way that their lover can be changed but simply because love does bring out the best, it does unite, and it does feel like getting drunk because it’s a soul seeing emotion. To be in love seems to be maddening but it’s by far the most bold choice ever.
