This poem depicts the unique bond between friends. It shows different aspects of friendship, like sometimes fighting, sometimes teasing each other, and sometimes convincing each other. It compares the journey of friendship to a train journey, where the conversations never end. Still, it feels great to just smile quietly with friends, too. This poem talks about finding all the happiness of the world in friendship and forgetting everything else. In the end, the poet requests his friends to always stay together and maintain their friendship.

Ajeeb dastan hoti hai doston ki

Ladna milne se achcha lagta hai,

Ladke manane wale bhi hote hain kuch

To kuch ko chidhana achcha lagta hai,

Doston ke moonh se kuch sunne ke liye

Kabhi jhuk jana bhi achcha lagta hai,

Safar train ka ho ya zindagi ka

Khatm hi na hoti inki baten,

Phir bhi kabhi khamosh rah kar

Muskurana achcha lagta hai,

Doston me lagta hai, mil gayi duniya sari

Baki sab kuch bhool jana achcha lagta hai,

Mat chorna mujhe yaron, hamesha sath rakhna,

Tum sabka yarana achcha lagta hai.

“Dastan-E-Dosti” throws light on the strange and unique relationship of friendship. It says that small fights between friends, teasing each other, sometimes giving in and agreeing to what they say, and travelling while talking are all nice.

The main theme of the poem is that by being with friends, in their friendship, a person finds all the happiness in the world. Forgetting everything else and just being with friends gives a pleasant feeling.

In the end, the poet prays to his friends to always stay with him, and their friendship should never break. Because he likes this company of friends the most.
